Who is a transfer student?

You are considered a transfer student for admissions if you have prior college credits from another institution after high school.

What is required for admission?

For consideration, all transfer applications must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. If more than one college been attended, it is a 2.5 cumulative GPA from all previous colleges.

Applicants interested in nursing must have:

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2, Chemistry 1 and 2, General Psychology, and Introduction to Sociology
  • C or better in the pre-requisite courses

What is required for my application?

The following items are required to complete your application:

  • Completed MSMC Undergraduate Admissions Application
  • Official high school transcripts
  • SAT/ACT scores (if you have taken under 24 college credits to date)
  • Official transcripts from EACH college/university that you have attended, or that is awarding you credit.
  • A personal statement/essay is recommended but not required.

Is there an application due date?

No, Mount Saint Mary College operates on a rolling admissions policy. Applications are accepted year-round.

Are transfer students eligible for financial aid?

Yes, all students must submit their FAFSA form in order to be considered for financial aid.

Once accepted, what are the next steps for a transfer student?

Financial Aid: To be considered for financial aid, you need to file a FAFSA form with the Mount’s FAFSA school code: 002778.

Advisement and Registration: Once you receive your official credit evaluation from the Registrar’s Office, contact your academic advisor for advisement. Registration for fall generally takes place in April; spring registration is generally in November. Since advisement is necessary prior to registration, be sure to schedule your appointment promptly.

Deposit and Registration: After receiving your financial aid package and meeting with your advisor, you can pay your admissions deposit and register for courses. Admissions deposits must be paid prior to course registration. The deposit deadline for fall students is May 1; spring students should pay by December 1. The cost is $450 for residents and $150 for commuters.

How many credits can I transfer in to Mount Saint Mary College?

Transfer credit maximums are:

  • If you attended a 2-year college, up to 60 credits
  • If you attended a 4-year college, up to 90 credits
  • If you attended both a 2-year and 4-year college, you may transfer in up to 90 credits.
